Track and field talent gears up for divisional finals

 SHOOTING FOR THE TOP SPOT—Thousand Oaks High junior high jumper Angelyn Caldwell is one of a handful of local student-athletes who qualified for the CIF-Southern Section Divisional Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Cerritos College in Norwalk. Field events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. Action on the track heats up two hours later. The general admission fee is $9 for adults and $5 for children. Students with school identification get in for $5. Team members from Oaks Christian and La Reina are poised for big-time success in multiple Division 4 events. Newbury Park, led by sprinters Megan and Morgan Thompson, is looking to strike gold in Division 2. Thousand Oaks, paced by Caldwell and 800-meter standout Caitlin Turner, will also contend for championship hardware in Division 2.  WENDY PIERRO/Acorn Newspapers
